Students who choose to attend law schools that are not accredited by the ABA or the State Bar of California, must take the First Year Law Student Exam (FYLSE - also known as the California Baby Bar Exam), to get credit for their law studies.

The First-Year Law Students' Examination is a one day examination. The morning session will be a maximum of four hours in duration, and the afternoon session will be a maximum of three hours. The 100 multiple-choice questions are administered during the afternoon session.
